Windows Firewall Notifier, or WFN for short, will keep track of all the running processes and services and let you know when an app wants to connect to your computer. You can easily protect your PC and personal files from viruses, malware, spam, and other threats that lurk on the Internet this way.

The application’s main goal is to fully customize how rules are managed and all the processes connected to your computer are tracked. It was mostly made to add to the default Windows Firewall’s features. As you may know, when the Firewall finds a process or service, it shows you a small window where you can choose whether to let the process or service access your files.

By default, the Windows operating system doesn’t block any outgoing connections. This means that your whole computer is open to threats and that any program you install on your PC (especially ones you downloaded from sites you don’t trust) can send information to unauthorized sources without your permission.

When you start the program for the first time, you can turn on notifications and set up a blocking rule to make some security settings stronger. Also, Windows Firewall Notifier blocks all apps, even if WFN notifications are turned off.

The main window shows all of the active connections and processes, as well as some basic information like “Protocol,” “Local address,” “Local port,” and “Creation Time.” Also, the orange-colored secure connections will be shown in the main window for a couple of seconds before they go away.

You can see a list of all the Windows Firewall rules and add or remove new ones if needed by going to the Rules section.

In conclusion, Windows Firewall Notifier is useful for people who need to monitor all the outgoing connections and services and see information about the Firewall rules in real-time.
