Microsoft PowerToys is a set of tools that help power users tune and streamline their Windows experience to be more productive. This reboot is based on the Windows 95 PowerToys project, and it gives power users ways to make the Windows 10 shell more efficient and fit it into their own workflows.

Microsoft said earlier this year that PowerToys would be coming back to Windows 10. PowerToys used to be helpful little tools that let you change Windows in more ways. The first PowerToys for Windows 10 from Microsoft is now out.

PowerToy Utilities Right Now

• FancyZones.com

FancyZones is a window manager that makes it easy to set up complicated window layouts and move windows quickly into them.

• Add-ons for the File Explorer (Preview Panes)

Right now, the only things you can add to File Explorer are things for the Preview Pane. The Preview Pane is already a part of File Explorer. To turn it on, click “Preview Pane” under the “View” tab in the ribbon.

PowerToys will now let you preview two types of files: Markdown (.md) and SVG (.svg).

• Image Resizer

Image Resizer is a Windows Shell Extension that makes it easy to change the size of photos. With a simple right-click in File Explorer, you can quickly change the size of one or more images.

• Manager of Keyboard

Keyboard Manager lets you change the way keys work and make your own keyboard shortcuts so you can be more productive. For this PowerToy to work, you need Windows 10 Version 1903 (Build 18362) or a later version.

• PowerRename

PowerRename is a Windows Shell Extension that lets you rename a lot of files at once using advanced methods like search and replace or regular expressions. As you type in the search and replace fields, the preview area will show you the new names of the items will be. The rename is then done by calling on the Windows Explorer file operations engine. This has the benefit of making it possible to undo the renaming operation after PowerRename is done.
