MEGAsync is a simple and easy-to-use program that lets you synchronize files between a local source folder and a cloud drive by making a path between the two. You have to make a MEGA account and set up your cloud drive before you can use the program. After that, you can choose a local folder to sync. After you sign up, everything else is easy. All you have to do is copy or update the files you want to sync in a dedicated folder on your computer. The transfer takes place right away.

Does the world really need yet another way to store data in the cloud? When you look at what MEGA, which was made by Kim Dotcom, has to offer, the answer is yes. First, you can get 50GB of free storage space, but you can only use 10GB of bandwidth a month. Paid plans start at $11 a month or $120 a year and offer 500GB/1TB of monthly bandwidth.

Second, MEGA promises a very high level of security, with no less than 2048-bit RSA encryption. Your password is the master encryption key, so if it’s strong enough, even brute-force attacks shouldn’t be able to break it. Be careful, though, because there is no way to reset your password. If you forget it, any data that you haven’t shared with anyone else will be lost.

Having 50GB on hand is very helpful, but to get the most out of it, you’ll need a client that makes it easy to upload and sync data between your machines. That client is this person.

Once it’s set up, you can sync either everything on your MEGA drive to your computer or just certain folders. These are stored in a MEGA folder that is created in your personal Documents folder. If this doesn’t work for you, go to the Sync tab of the program’s settings to delete the default location and add your own. While it’s a little complicated, it’s possible.

The data that is already in your cloud account will then download to your PC, and any files or folders that you copy or update into this folder will upload back to your MEGA account online. When you open the folder in Windows Explorer, you’ll see three small icons: a red cross, a blue sync, and a green tick. These show if the files are in sync with your online store or not.

If you click the program’s icon in the system tray, you can see more about what’s going on behind the scenes, like what’s being synced, what’s been synced recently, and how to change the most important settings. From here, you can make changes and even optimize the client’s bandwidth so that uploading doesn’t slow down your internet connection (in most cases, the automatic setting should be fine).
