TAL-Sampler does more than just play samples. It is a full-featured analog-modeled synthesizer with a sampler engine as its sound source. It has a powerful modulation matrix and a high-quality self-oscillating 24/12/6 dB low pass filter. Don’t expect a 40GB piano sample library with samples for every velocity or something like that. The idea is to bring back how fun sampling used to be in the good old days, with small samples, fast loading times, and an easy way to make custom sample presets without getting overwhelmed.

You can choose from different digital analog converters (DACs) to get the vintage sound of different hardware samplers in your DAW. On the output signal, we don’t do cheap bit crushing or decimation. We actually down-sample the sample to the sampling frequency we want, then process the data based on the DAC we chose and up-sample it to the pitch we want. Most DAC modes offer a LEVEL slider. This feature lets the user lower the volume of the sample and lower the quality of the sample. Load a high-quality sample that you like and make it sound old and noisy. It will work well with the 24dB low pass filter.

It has four layers and can play four different samples at the same time. Samples can also be imported using SFZ, which imports the mapping and sample paths. The plug-in also has an easy-to-use mapping editor.

TAL-Sampler is a plug-in that can be used with VST, Audio Unit, and AAX. You can load and play your own samples in every common format (*.wav, *.aiff, *.aif, *.mp3, *.ogg, *.flac). Drag and drop samples from Finder or Explorer to bring them in. There is also a sample browser that is easy to use and makes it easy to find samples quickly.

Some nice additions, like a vintage real-time time stretcher and the ability to modulate or automate the sample loop positions.
