Sometimes, it’s inevitable that your computer’s hard drive will need to be formatted or, even worse, that a piece of hardware will break. You should start making backups of your data so that you don’t lose everything. FBackup is a program that will help you back up and protect your personal files. You can save these on your hard drives or on your local network. You can also choose to save your files to an external hard drive or a removable device by going to the “Properties” section of the app. FBackup lets you make a full copy of your files or just a mirror of them. FBackup checks for updates every week, so when a new version comes out, you’ll know about it. You can turn off the option to check for updates, but we recommend that it be turned on so that FBackup is always up-to-date.
Multiple backup destinations
Your backups will be stored on the local Windows partition if nothing is changed. To make sure that your backup is safe, we recommend that you store it somewhere else that FBackup supports. It works with USB/Firewire drives, network drives that have been mapped, CD/DVD/BluRay drives, and online destinations (Google Drive and Dropbox). So, if something goes wrong with your computer’s hardware, your data will still be safe in an outside location.
Cloud-based back-ups
You can back up your files and folders in the cloud to your Google Drive or Dropbox account with FBackup. You can use your account as a Cloud destination by connecting it to FBackup. Backup plugins
You can load plugins to back up or restore specific program settings or other custom data (like game saves, email data, etc.). Once these plugins are loaded into FBackup, “Predefined Backups” will show a list of the sources that need to be backed up for that program. Backup open files
FBackup can still back up a file that is being used by another program at the time of the backup because it uses the Volume Shadow Service that Windows offers. So long as you’re using Windows 10, 8/8.1, 7, Vista, XP, 2016/2012/2008/2003 Server (32/64-bit), FBackup will back up those open files. You can back up your Outlook emails and settings, for example, without having to close the program first.
