Sometimes, it’s inevitable that your computer’s hard drive will need to be formatted or, even worse, that a piece of hardware will break. You should start making backups of your data so that you don’t lose everything. FBackup is a program that will help you back up and protect your personal files. You can save these on your hard drives or on your local network. You can also choose to save your files to an external hard drive or a removable device by going to the “Properties” section of the app. FBackup lets you make a full copy of your files or just a mirror of them. You can also put a password on the data and encrypt it.

Features

It’s free for both personal and business use.

FBackup is a free backup software that can be used for both personal and business needs. This means you won’t have to spend any more money on a backup program.

Regular backups

You set up a backup job, tell it to run on its own, and then forget about it. FBackup will automatically run the backup at the time you set it. Not only will this protect your data, but it will also save you a lot of time.

Zip compression is a standard way to back up.

When “full backup” is used, the sources will be archived using standard zip compression. FBackup uses ZIP64 compression, so it can make zip files that are bigger than 2GB. You can also protect your zip files with a password.

Files that are exact copies

Since FBackup can also back up empty folders, you can use this type of backup to make a “mirror” copy of the original files at the destination. It also has an option called “Fast Mirror,” which copies only new or changed files.

Keeping ransomware at bay

Ransomware is some of the most dangerous crypto-viruses, and FBackup protects your data from them. With FBackup, you can make copies of your important files and store them online on Google Drive or Dropbox. This way, even if ransomware viruses encrypt your files, you’ll still have copies that haven’t been infected stored online.

User-friendly

A backup program’s main jobs are to back up and restore. The backup wizard that comes with FBackup makes it very easy to do these things. Start the wizard, choose What, Where, How, and When the backup should run, and you’re done. To restore, all you have to do is open the restore wizard, and you’ll be asked where to save the restored data (original location, a different one, …).

Do things before and after a backup

You can tell each backup job to do something before or after the backup. For example, you can choose “Clear backup” before the backup starts, which will delete all the previously backed-up files before the new ones are loaded.

Automatic updates

FBackup checks for updates every week, so when a new version comes out, you’ll know about it. You can turn off the option to check for updates, but we recommend that it be turned on so that FBackup is always up-to-date.

Multiple backup destinations

Your backups will be stored on the local Windows partition if nothing is changed. To make sure that your backup is safe, we recommend that you store it somewhere else that FBackup supports. It works with USB/Firewire drives, network drives that have been mapped, CD/DVD/BluRay drives, and online destinations (Google Drive and Dropbox). So, if something goes wrong with your computer’s hardware, your data will still be safe in an outside location.

Cloud-based back-ups

You can back up your files and folders in the cloud to your Google Drive or Dropbox account with FBackup. You can use your account as a Cloud destination by connecting it to FBackup. This lets you get the best of both worlds: your favorite free backup program and free cloud storage that people all over the world know and trust.

Backup plugins

You can load plugins to back up or restore specific program settings or other custom data (like game saves, email data, etc.). Once these plugins are loaded into FBackup, “Predefined Backups” will show a list of the sources that need to be backed up for that program. Here is a list of all the backup plugins you can use: Free backup tools

Backup open files

FBackup can still back up a file that is being used by another program at the time of the backup because it uses the Volume Shadow Service that Windows offers. So long as you’re using Windows 10, 8/8.1, 7, Vista, XP, 2016/2012/2008/2003 Server (32/64-bit), FBackup will back up those open files. You can back up your Outlook emails and settings, for example, without having to close the program first.

Multi-language

You can choose one of the languages that are currently supported for the user interface.
